Some outstanding pitching did in the North Regina Little League All-Stars on Thursday at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.
Three pitchers combined on a perfect game as Chinese Taipei beat the Canadian champions 6-0.
The Asia-Pacific representatives retired all 18 Canadian batters who went to the plate in the six-inning contest. It was the first perfect game at the Little League World Series since 2017.
Next up for Team Canada is a game Saturday against the Europe-Africa representative, a team from Brno, Czech Republic. The Czechs also are 0-1, having lost 4-0 to Panama in their opener.
The game is scheduled for 2 p.m. Regina time.
North Regina won the Canadian championship on Aug. 10 with a 4-3 victory over a team from B.C. The national tournament was played at the North Regina Little League diamonds.
This is the second time a team from North Regina has competed in the Little League World Series. The first time was in 2002.
