An RCMP police dog named Kilo outdid himself Tuesday.
According to the Mounties, a Roving Traffic Unit pulled over a vehicle with one person inside on Highway 16 near Maidstone. As the police investigation continued, Kilo sniffed around the vehicle and “provided a positive sit indication to one of his trained narcotic odours.”
Police said a subsequent search of the vehicle found 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, as well as $11,415 in cash, a baton and a set of brass knuckles.
A 34-year-old Saskatoon man was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000, possession of a prohibited weapon (the brass knuckles), and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (the baton).
He appeared in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Thursday.
