An arrest has been made in a shooting in Nipawin that prompted the RCMP to ask the public to check surveillance footage for some sign of the suspect.
On Wednesday, the RCMP said officers arrested a 29-year-old woman Tuesday after executing a warrant stemming from an investigation into an assault with a weapon in March. Investigators then added charges relating to the shooting that occurred last Wednesday.
The woman is facing a number of charges, including attempted murder with a firearm, uttering threats against a person and pointing a firearm without lawful excuse.
The victim of the shooting remains in hospital with injuries police described as life-threatening.
In a release after the shooting, the RCMP said officers from the Nipawin detachment responded July 26 at about 12:30 a.m. to a call about a 44-year-old man being shot inside a house on the 600 block of Eighth Avenue.
That prompted the Mounties to ask people in the neighbourhood to check their doorbell cameras and video surveillance systems for images of the suspect.
The woman appeared in Nipawin Provincial Court on Wednesday.
