The southeastern corner of Saskatchewan could see some stormy weather Monday.
At 11:40 a.m., Environment Canada issued severe thunderstorm watches for areas including Regina, Estevan, Weyburn, Melville, Yorkton, Humboldt, Melfort and Tisdale.
The watches covered areas east of Saskatoon, but not the city itself.
Watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce high winds, large hail and heavy rain.
“Large hail can damage property and cause injury,” the advisory said. “Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.
“Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.”
