Police in Saskatoon are dealing with a high number of weapon-related calls.
According to the police service, over the past weekend, officers responded to 29 weapon-related calls, which resulted in 22 weapons seized, 11 arrests and 23 charges.
In one incident, which happened shortly before noon on Saturday, police said officers were called to a gas station on 33rd Street West where a man was reportedly seen leaving the business with a gun. Police said he was found to be carrying an imitation handgun, and is now facing charges of carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon.
The police service also described a second case, which happened about four hours later on Confederation Drive. In that case, police said a man was struck with “a metal object” by a woman. The weapon in that case was later found to be part of an air rifle, police said, and the woman was charged with uttering death threats, assault with a weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon.
