Officers with the Beauval RCMP detachment are trying to reunite a trove of stolen property with its rightful owners.
Early Monday morning, police got a report of a Ford F350 crew cab truck accessing the Canoe Lake First Nation after the driver had been refused entry into the community.
Police said the driver, a 55-year-old man, fled on foot and abandoned the vehicle, but was arrested the same evening.
According to the RCMP, the truck was reported stolen to the Saskatoon Police Service at the start of June, and it contained all kinds of stolen property, including “lots of tools,” a slip tank, DVDs and cables.
The police are now working to return the stolen goods to their proper homes.
“Subsequent investigation has determined the thefts occurred across Central and West Saskatchewan over the past two months including in the communities of Saskatoon, Borden, Biggar and the Lloydminster area,” the RCMP said in a statement.
“If you believe your stolen items may be part of this investigation, please contact Beauval RCMP at 306-288-6400. You will be asked to describe the items and serial numbers are helpful to provide, if you have them available.”
The 55-year-old driver was charged with possession of property obtained by crime, and appeared in a Meadow Lake courtroom Thursday.
