The RCMP has found and recovered a stolen Cadillac Escalade SUV after asking the public to report any sightings of the vehicle earlier this week.
According to police, the Cadillac was taken from Prince Albert on Tuesday morning, and at the time the RCMP noted the possibility that the suspect may have been armed.
On Wednesday, the RCMP said the vehicle was found abandoned – and without any firearms inside – on Tuesday afternoon in a rural area of the James Smith Cree Nation. Police said the SUV was towed, and is currently being held by police as the investigation continues.
The RCMP said a suspect has been identified, and asked the public to keep an eye out for him.
“Melfort RCMP in conjunction with the Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) are now looking to the public for assistance in locating 34-year-old Keenan Crawford Head, from James Smith Cree Nation, SK, in relation to the stolen vehicle,” the RCMP said in a statement.
“At this stage of the investigation, Head was believed to be the lone occupant of the vehicle.”
Head is currently wanted for failing to comply with a release order, the RCMP said. He stands 5-foot-9 and weighs about 150 pounds, police said, with brown hair and brown eyes.
“Police consider Keenan Crawford Head to be armed and dangerous,” the RCMP added. “If he is seen, do not approach, and report this sighting to police immediately by calling 911 or your local police of jurisdiction.”
The RCMP said officers are conducting “proactive patrols” around the Cree Nation and surrounding areas, and are following up on tips from the public.
