A shooting early Wednesday in Nipawin has prompted the RCMP to ask for help from people who have home video surveillance and doorbell cameras.
In a media release, the RCMP said officers from the Nipawin detachment responded at about 12:30 a.m., to a call about a 44-year-old man being shot inside a house on the 600 block of Eighth Avenue.
Police said the man was taken to hospital with injuries that were described as serious. The Mounties said the man’s name was not being released.
“Initial investigation has determined unknown individual(s) entered the residence and a shooting occurred,” the RCMP said. “The suspect(s) fled on foot in an unknown direction and it is unknown if they had access to a vehicle.”
As a result, the Mounties are asking people to go through their home surveillance and doorbell cameras and to report any suspicious activity, people or vehicles on or near the 600 block of Eighth Avenue between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.
People with information can call their local police service, the nearest RCMP detachment at 310-RCMP, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
