Heat warnings have been lifted for much of Saskatchewan, except for a swath in the south and southeast.
As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, warnings remained in place for areas around Assiniboia, Gravelbourg, Coronach, Carlyle, Oxbow, Carnduff, Bienfait, Stoughton, Estevan, Weyburn, Radville and Milestone.
“Temperatures reaching 32 degrees Celsius combined with overnight lows near 16 degrees Celsius are expected for the next day,” Environment Canada said in its advisory. “Parts of far southern Saskatchewan will see one more day of extreme heat Wednesday before cooling off Wednesday night.”
Environment Canada’s forecast for Regina called for a high of 28 C on Wednesday and Thursday before falling to 23 C on Friday. In Saskatoon, the high was expected to be 24 C on Wednesday, 21 C on Thursday and 17 C on Friday.
The weather service also issued a rainfall warning for the Cree Lake area, saying heavy rain Wednesday would bring 60 to 80 millimetres of precipitation to the area. The rain is expected to taper off Wednesday evening.
