Five individuals who allegedly robbed a Moose Jaw restaurant on Sunday could be facing more than just theft charges.
After allegedly stealing an undetermined amount of money from a Moose Jaw restaurant, the group headed west on the Trans-Canada Highway.
According to a social media post by the Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan Unit, the suspects were stopped on the highway between Moose Jaw and Caronport by the Saskatchewan Highway Patrol going 150 kilometres per hour in a 110 km/h speed zone.
Police said $12,700 in various currencies was seized and all five people were arrested. It is unknown at this time what charges have been laid.
According to police, the traffic stop also involved the Moose Jaw Police Service, the Moose Jaw RCMP and Canada Border Services Agency officers.
It was also stated in the post that some of the people who were arrested may be deported.
In Moose Jaw, the group is facing theft-related charges for the incident at the restaurant. They’re currently in Moose Jaw police custody and appeared in Moose Jaw Provincial Court on Tuesday morning.
It has been determined that the group is from Ontario.
The investigation is ongoing.
