Areas across Saskatchewan were blanketed by wildfire smoke Thursday.
Environment Canada issued air quality statements for areas in southern and central Saskatchewan, as well as much of the western half of the province.
“A dense plume of near surface smoke is again moving into southern Saskatchewan today from wildfires to the northwest,” the advisory said. “Conditions around Saskatoon through the southwest will deteriorate this afternoon while Regina and the southeast will follow this evening.
“Poor air quality conditions are expected to last into Friday.”
In addition to Regina and Saskatoon, areas under the advisory included Assiniboia, Coronach, Carlyle, Carnduff, Estevan, Weyburn, Fort Qu’Appelle, Indian Head, Buffalo Narrows, Kindersley, Rosetown, La Loche, Leader, Gull Lake, Martensville, Warman, Meadow Lake, Moose Jaw, Pense, Moosomin, Grenfell, Outlook, Watrous, Shaunavon, Maple Creek, Swift Current, Herbert, The Battlefords and Unity.
