Residents of southwestern Saskatchewan were advised Tuesday to watch the sky.
Just after 11 a.m., Environment Canada issued a tornado warning for the area around Carmichael, saying it was tracking a thunderstorm that might have been producing a tornado. The warning was lifted about 15 minutes later and replaced by a severe thunderstorm warning.
But tornado watches continued for other areas in the southwest, including regions around Leader, Gull Lake, Shaunavon, Maple Creek, Val Marie and Cypress Hills.
Severe thunderstorm watches also were in place for the Swift Current, Assiniboia, Gravelbourg, Herbert and Cabri regions.
If a tornado develops, people were reminded to go to a room on the lowest floor of their house away from outside walls and windows. Anyone in mobile homes, vehicles, tents, trailers or other temporary shelters were urged to move to a building if they can.
