The Battlefords RCMP said Tuesday there wasn’t a criminal aspect to a reported attempted abduction in North Battleford last month.
On June 20, the Mounties got a call about an incident on 110th Street near St. Laurent Drive in North Battleford. Officers were told a teenaged girl was walking down the street when a man in a black SUV called out to her and asked if she wanted money.
According to the initial report, after the girl kept walking, the man in the SUV tried to grab her. The teen then ran for help, and the SUV drove away.
On Tuesday, the Mounties said officers conducted patrols and continued a priority investigation, which has now ended.
“Based on evidence collected, officers have determined there was no criminality involved or risk to the public,” the RCMP release said. “Battlefords RCMP is releasing this information to assure the community no risk was identified after fulsome investigation.”
The Mounties didn’t say what led them to make that determination or what findings came out of their investigation.
