Police in Saskatoon say a woman who was “causing a disturbance” was bitten by a police dog after she opened the door of a police vehicle.
The 20-year-old Saskatoon woman was treated by paramedics for injuries, police said, and was subsequently arrested for public intoxication. Her injuries weren’t life-threatening, police said, but no further detail was provided.
Police said the incident started when officers were called to a domestic disturbance on 19th Street West in the early-morning hours Thursday.
“Upon arriving to the area, officers observed a woman causing a disturbance in the street,” police said in a statement. “Immediately, the woman approached a police canine vehicle and opened the rear door; the (dog) inside engaged the woman causing injuries consistent with a dog bite.”
Police did not elaborate on the nature of the disturbance.
