"He's going to be a special player for us for four years before he goes and plays professional."
A Saskatoon man saw more than $34,000 go up in smoke Sunday night.
According to police, at around 8:45 p.m., officers saw a man driving an SUV make what police called “a sudden and illegal turn across a solid yellow line” in the 1400 block of Central Avenue.
A police release said officers pulled over the SUV in a nearby parking lot. As they were speaking to the driver, the officers saw a number of packages of what police said were unstamped tobacco products hidden under blankets.
A search of the vehicle turned up more than 58,000 cigarettes.
Police said a 31-year-old man was handed a $34,487.60 ticket under The Tobacco Tax Act, as well as a traffic ticket.
