A Saskatoon company has been fined a total of $6,000 for failing to pay wages within 14 days of the end of employment.
According to the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety, College Park Garment Care Ltd. — operating as Custom Cleaners College Park — pleaded guilty to six counts under The Saskatchewan Employment Act during an appearance May 11 in Saskatoon Provincial Court.
The company, its corporate director and another firm each were charged with six violations of the act. The charges against the corporate director and the second company were stayed.
The court fined College Park Garment Care Ltd. $714.29 plus a $285.71 victim surcharge on each of the six counts, for a total of $6,000. It also ordered payment of $3,176.71 in outstanding wages.
