The RCMP says a 54-year-old man was killed in a crash that closed Highway 13 east of Weyburn on Monday.
In a media release Tuesday afternoon, the Mounties said officers responded Monday at about 4:40 p.m., to a call about a multi-vehicle crash on the highway.
Their investigation determined an SUV was stopped on Highway 13 preparing to make a left turn off the highway when it was hit from behind by a pickup truck. The impact pushed the SUV into oncoming traffic, but it didn’t collide with any other vehicles.
The Mounties said the driver of the SUV and the driver and passenger of the pickup were taken to hospital with serious injuries. Paramedics declared the SUV’s passenger dead at the scene.
An RCMP collision analyst and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service attended the scene.
The police investigation is continuing.
