Three people are facing charges of attempted murder after a 20-year-old man was shot multiple times in Beauval on Saturday.
Tracking down the suspects involved a car chase and a major search in a wooded area, police said.
According to the RCMP, officers were called to a home in Beauval at about 11 a.m. Saturday, when they found the victim. He was taken to hospital by paramedics.
Through surveillance footage, police said investigators determined a trio of suspects was travelling in a black Chevrolet Equinox SUV, and police issued a public safety advisory in the area to encourage residents to stay safe and report any sightings of the vehicle.
The RCMP said officers caught up with the SUV on Highway 155, and the occupants threw a large bag containing two guns out of the vehicle during the chase.
Police said when the SUV was stopped using a spike belt, the three occupants took off into the bush on foot.
After a search involving air support units and police dogs, officers caught up with all three suspects in the bush at about 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The suspects are now facing charges of attempted murder and numerous gun-related charges. They were scheduled to appear in a Meadow Lake courtroom Monday, police said.
