A 37-year-old man is facing a criminal charge – and getting treatment for a stab wound – after allegedly breaking into a home early Monday morning and being confronted by the owner.
According to police, officers were called to a home on Avenue D North just before 2 a.m. Monday. The homeowner told police he’d left for a few minutes, but when he returned, there were two strange men inside the home.
“An altercation between the three ensued, resulting in one of the suspects receiving a stab wound,” police said in a statement. “Both suspects fled the scene on foot.”
A short time later, police got another report that an injured man was asking for help nearby on Idylwyld Drive North.
“Police were subsequently notified that the same male, a 37-year-old, was receiving treatment for a serious injury at St. Paul’s Hospital,” police said.
He’s now facing a charge of break and enter.
