A 28-year-old Saskatoon woman is facing charges after two women were stabbed in the city’s downtown.
According to police, officers got a call Thursday at around 5:30 p.m., about an injured person near 20th Street East and Second Avenue South. At the scene, police found a 35-year-old woman who had been stabbed.
The victim gave the officers a description of the suspect before being taken to hospital for treatment of what police called minor injuries.
Police said Alternative Response Officers located the suspect in the 300 block of Second Avenue South and found a large knife in her waistband.
Before officers could take the woman to cells, they found out paramedics were taking a second stabbing victim to hospital. That 25-year-old woman had been found behind a shopping centre at 20th Street East and First Avenue South.
Police subsequently determined the second victim had allegedly been assaulted by the same suspect.
The suspect is charged with two counts of assault causing bodily harm, and one count each of possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence, carrying a concealed weapon and breach of probation.
