A boy playing with a toy gun led to a lockdown at a Saskatoon school Friday afternoon.
According to police, officers were called to the 2500 block of 18th Street West just after 2 p.m. after a report of “a male pointing a firearm in the direction of a school before entering a nearby residence.”
The school in question was not named by police, but the address corresponds with W.P. Bate School.
Police said school officials were quickly told to conduct a perimeter lockdown while multiple officers responded.
“Officers were quickly able to make contact with the occupants of the residence and confirm that a youth male had been playing with a toy gun outside,” police said in a statement. “There was no threat to public safety and the perimeter lockdown has since been lifted.”
