Police in Saskatoon have made a third arrest in connection with two 2009 killings.
The first incident occurred on Jan. 1, 2009, when police responded to a double stabbing on Avenue T South. A 24-year-old victim survived, but police said 22-year-old Spencer Whiteman died from his injuries.
Then, on Nov. 16, 2009, police were called to Avenue H South for a report of another stabbing. In that case, 33-year-old Morgan Doucette died from the stab wounds he sustained.
On April 12, police announced the arrest of a 32-year-old man who was charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Whiteman and Doucette.
Then, on April 24, police announced that a second man – also age 32 – also had been arrested in connection with the deaths. He was charged with a single count of first-degree murder and one count of assault with a weapon.
On Thursday, police said a third man was also arrested and charged.
Police said the third suspect – also a 32-year-old man – was 18 at the time of Whiteman’s death and 19 when Doucette was killed. He’s been charged with two counts of first-degree murder along with aggravated assault, police said, and will make his first court appearance Thursday evening.
