A 20-year-old Saskatoon man is facing an attempted murder charge after allegedly stabbing and slashing another man with a broken glass bottle outside a bar.
According to police, officers were called to a bar on 24th Street East shortly before 3 a.m. on Saturday for a report of an injured person.
“The caller stated that an altercation took place outside of the bar with one male reportedly breaking a glass bottle and threatening to kill the victim,” police said in a statement.
“The suspect is said to have slashed/stabbed the victim multiple times before fleeing in a vehicle. The suspect and victim were unknown to each other prior to this evening.”
When officers arrived, they found a 21-year-old man with numerous serious stab wounds. He was taken to hospital, police said.
The officers caught up with the alleged attacker soon after, and he was arrested without incident during a traffic stop on 24th Street East and Second Avenue North.
He’s now facing a charge of attempted murder.
