The search is on for a Webb man who’s facing a number of gun-related charges.
The Swift Current Rural RCMP said it’s “actively working” to locate 50-year-old Ryan Barsness, who’s charged with three counts each of unsafe storage of firearms and unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of possession of a loaded restricted firearm, and one count of possession of a weapon obtained by crime.
According to a release from the Mounties, officers got a call last November about unauthorized possession of firearms. After an investigation, police executed a search warrant at a residence in Webb on Feb. 20 and found 34 guns, about 1,000 rounds of ammunition, 19 grams of methamphetamine and a sum of cash.
All of those items were seized and a warrant was issued for Barsness’ arrest.
He’s described as being about 5-foot-5 and 180 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair and a scar on his right eyebrow. The RCMP didn’t have a photo of Barsness to share.
Police said he’s known to travel from Webb – which is about 35 kilometres west of Swift Current – to the Regina area.
Anyone who has information about Barsness’ whereabouts was asked to call the Swift Current Rural RCMP at 306-778-5550 or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
