The police service’s Explosives Disposal Unit was deployed Thursday after a suspicious package was found at a multi-unit residential complex in Saskatoon.
In an update sent shortly after 5 p.m., police said their investigation had determined the package found in the 400 block of 115th Street East was “non-suspicious.”
“Residents are permitted to return to their units and the direction to shelter in place for those not evacuated has been lifted,” the media release said. “Police have since cleared the area.”
The initial release about the package was issued by police just after 4:30 p.m.
It was the second such incident in the city this week, after City Hall was evacuated Tuesday under similar circumstances. In that case, the package was ultimately found to be harmless.
