A woman missing from Prince Albert since Dec. 9 has been found dead in a wooded area in the RM of Buckland.
According to the RCMP, Joanne Highway’s body was discovered Sunday after police got a report that human remains had been found. Police from the Prince Albert detachment attended the scene, along with officers from RCMP Forensic Identification Services and representatives from the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
Foul play is not suspected in Highway’s death, but police noted the investigation has not yet concluded.
“The investigation into her death is ongoing, in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service. Pending final results of the autopsy and toxicology, preliminary indication is that no foul play is suspected in relation to Joanne’s death,” the RCMP said in a statement.
“Joanne’s family has been notified of her death and victim services have been made available. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.”
