Two people were arrested Friday after three Saskatoon liquor stores were robbed in a single week.
According to police, the first robbery took place April 15 on Preston Avenue South. Three people entered the store wearing medical masks, and loaded up reusable grocery bags with liquor bottles.
When they were confronted by a female employee, police said one of the suspects pushed her down and brandished a knife. The suspects then fled in a Pontiac Sunfire, police said.
Three days later, police responded to a second robbery at a liquor store on Primrose Drive. Police said four suspects entered the store wearing masks and loaded up liquor bottles in the same manner. The robbers threatened an employee with bear spray before taking off in the same Pontiac, police said.
Then, on Friday, police responded to a robbery in progress at a liquor store on McOrmond Drive. Two people who matched the descriptions of the suspects from the previous robberies were arrested nearby, and police said one of them was found to be carrying methamphetamine and a knife. The Pontiac was also found and seized at the scene, police said.
The two suspects — a 43-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man — are facing numerous robbery charges, police said, and more charges are anticipated as the investigation continues.
