There’s a new spot to drop off recycling in Saskatoon.
On Monday, SARCAN celebrated the grand opening of its new depot at 3803 Kochar Ave. The new facility is twice the size of the previous depot on Faithfull Avenue, but only uses a fraction of the energy thanks to its innovative design.
The facility also boasts more parking and additional conveyor belts to move people through more quickly.
Amy McNeil, SARCAN Recycling’s executive director, said the opening coincides with the company’s 35th year of operations.
“We are excited to begin our 35th year of recycling excellence by opening this new, modern, and efficient depot in Saskatoon,” McNeil said in a statement.
“This new SARCAN depot is not only a more modern and safe workplace for our team of SARCAN recyclers, but also a brighter, quicker, and more efficient recycling depot that meets the needs of our passionate and loyal customers.”
SARCAN celebrated another milestone earlier this year by recycling its 10 billionth container.
Dana Skoropad, Saskatchewan’s environment minister, applauded SARCAN’s efforts to make it more easy and convenient for people to recycle.
“Effective waste management is essential to responsible growth, and they continue to be an important partner in our province’s work in waste reduction,” Skoropad said in a statement.
