A wanted man allegedly injured two Saskatoon police officers during a struggle Friday morning.
According to police, officers spotted a 26-year-old man known to be wanted on a warrant while he was walking in the area of 16th Street West and Avenue P South.
“Upon informing the man that he would be placed under arrest for an outstanding warrant, a physical struggle ensued,” police said in a statement.
The wanted man allegedly struck the officers several times, injuring both. More officers arrived to help, and police said the wanted man was eventually subdued through the use of a Taser.
In addition to his outstanding warrant, police said the man will now also face two charges of assaulting a police officer.
The use of the Taser will be reviewed in accordance with police policy.
This incident marks the second time this week that Saskatoon officers have been injured while making an arrest. On Wednesday afternoon, police said an officer was hurt while pulling a man police described as “confrontational” out of his vehicle following a traffic stop.
