Kian Schaffer-Baker will be donning the green and white for the next few seasons.
The CFL team announced Wednesday the 24-year-old receiver had signed an extension to keep him with the Saskatchewan Roughriders through the 2025 season.
But fans will need to wait a bit to see the former Guelph Gryphons star back in action as he spends the first portion of the season on the injured list after undergoing hip surgery in the off-season.
Schaffer-Baker was the Riders’ top receiving option last season, making 68 catches for 960 yards and five touchdowns.
The Mississauga, Ont., product was the Roughriders’ nominee for most outstanding Canadian in 2022 and most outstanding rookie in 2021.
In his first season with Saskatchewan, he played 12 games and recorded 45 catches for 550 yards with two touchdowns.
With his absence during the first few games of the year, other Canadians such as Sam Emilus, Mitch Picton, Brayden Lenius, and Juwan Brescacin will be called upon to fill in for the dynamic receiver.
