A new judge has been appointed to the provincial court bench in Saskatoon.
Lisa Watson has spent 14 years working in the legal realm, receiving her law degree from the Saskatchewan College of Law in 2009 and articling with Roe and Company, where she eventually became an associate.
She was admitted to the bar in 2010. In 2015, she became a partner with Peszko and Watson, a full-service law firm, in Saskatoon.
Watson’s present work is a general practice with an emphasis on criminal defense, according to the Peszko and Watson website.
Watson has been a sessional lecturer at the College of Law since 2018 and involved with variuos professional associations, including the Federal Judicial Advisory Committee, Saskatcheawn Trial Lawyers Association and Saskatoon Community Mediation Services. Watson is also the co-president of the Saskatoon Criminal Defence Lawyers Association.
According to a news release from the province, Watson has “a wealth of experience in criminal defence” from a legal career that began “from a desire to help the people that come into our legal system resolve their issues and arrive at the best outcomes possible.”
“I am honoured to welcome Judge Watson to the bench,” said Justice Minister and Attorney General, Bronwyn Eyre, in the release.
Eyre said Watson “brings to our provincial judiciary an impressive breadth of experience and knowledge, as well as a desire to find just solutions for everyone who comes before the courts.”
