A 33-year-old man was arrested with the help of a Saskatoon police dog Wednesday, while he was allegedly trashing the inside of someone’s apartment.
Officers were sent to an apartment suite on Fifth Avenue North around 8 p.m. for a report that a man had broken in.
“Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with the man, but he was non-compliant and began to barricade himself inside,” police said in a statement.
The police canine unit “assisted in making entry to the suite,” police added.
The man was apprehended by the dog, police said, and was “safely taken into custody.”
When officers searched the suite, they found a considerable amount of damage including flooding.
The 33-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be minor, police said. He’s facing a charge of break-and-enter to commit mischief. Police did not say whether the injuries were sustained during his arrest.
