A night auditor at a local hotel called the Weyburn Police Service late Sunday when a deer entered the lobby through the automatic doors.
An injured doe then made its way into the hallway, crashing into a window and several room doors as it tried to escape.
“Officers were called down to see if they could assist a deer making its way outside of a hotel,” Deputy Chief Brent VanDeSype said.
“Apparently it bumped into the lobby doors but made its way in, and then once it was inside and made its way down the hall, (it) saw a window (and) thought it might be its way to escape. So it crashed into the window and got a little bit of a bloody nose and then left its mark all the way down the hall.”
VanDeSype said officers arrived and helped to guide the scared deer out safely.
“We have not seen it since,” he added.
Hotel staff said the doe appeared to be injured, having likely been hit by a vehicle. No one was harmed, and the incident didn’t even create a disturbance for hotel guests.
