An 18-year-old man is facing charges after he allegedly took off from police in a stolen van and crashed into a parked car.
According to Saskatoon police, on Saturday at about 5 a.m. in the 200 block of Avenue I South, officers saw a minivan that had been reported stolen.
Police said the driver initially pulled over, but then took off when officers approached the van. It stopped shortly after when it hit a parked vehicle in the 200 block of Avenue L North.
Officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop and arrested a 16-year-old girl who was a passenger in the van. She was later released without charges.
Police said the 18-year-old man who was driving the van was taken to hospital by paramedics for a precautionary assessment. He was later released into police custody.
He was charged with four counts of breach of conditions and one count each of dangerous driving, evading police and possession of stolen property over $5,000.
