Bear spray and a fire extinguisher were among the items used during an apparent brawl Sunday in Saskatoon.
On Monday, police issued a media release saying officers responded just after 4 a.m., to an apartment building on Confederation Drive in the Massey Place neighbourhood for what police termed “an unknown problem.”
“Upon arrival, officers were met with a heavy odour of bear spray inside along with a fog from a recently deployed fire extinguisher,” the release said. “An injured 25-year-old male was quickly located and transported to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.”
Officers saw a number of women nearby with blood on them. Two of them — a 16-year-old and a 19-year-old — were arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
Police say a fight involving numerous people had occurred, with the 25-year-old man being assaulted. But officers also allege the victim had assaulted one of the suspects, so he was charged with domestic assault.
Police say further charges are expected.
