Drivers with a heavy foot have one less eye on them in Saskatoon.
SGI says the photo radar location on Circle Drive near the Gordie Howe Bridge is out of commission after a plow knocked over the metal box which holds the radar camera in mid-February.
“The box was recently knocked off its foundation. There wasn’t a camera inside at the time so it wasn’t damaged,” SGI spokesperson Tyler McMurchy said.
“The vendor that provides the equipment is in the process of making arrangements to have it re-installed.”
McMurchy said the frozen ground is delaying that work so there is no timeline to have the camera location back in rotation.
In the meantime, drivers will still need to watch their speed with the camera still rotating between the other three locations on Circle Drive.
SGI is looking at whether insurance will cover the damage.
