The Regina Pats are in a mini-slump as the 2022-23 WHL regular season winds down.
Regina lost 7-0 to the host Medicine Hat Tigers on Saturday, dropping the Pats’ record in their past four games to 0-3-1.
They’re now 31-27-3-1 overall and are just three points up on Medicine Hat (27-26-8-1) in the race for sixth place in the Eastern Conference. Each team has six regular-season games remaining.
Tigers netminder Beckett Langkow stopped 17 shots for the first shutout of his WHL career, which spans 79 games.
Andrew Basha, who hadn’t scored more than two goals in any of his previous 108 career WHL games, sniped four times for the Tigers.
Rhett Parsons, Gavin McKenna (with his first career WHL goal) and Tomas Mrsic also scored for Medicine Hat, which outshot the Pats 18-1 in the second period and 40-17 overall.
Pats centre Connor Bedard was held off the scoresheet for just the fourth time this season, but for the second time in his past four games. He has two goals in that span.
Even so, Bedard still leads the WHL in goals (61), assists (64) and points (125) in 51 games played.
Drew Sim stopped 33 shots in the Pats’ net.
Regina is to face the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings on Wednesday. Game time at the Brandt Centre is set for 7 p.m.
