A 35-year-old man is facing charges of dangerous driving and evading police after an incident in Saskatoon early Sunday.
According to police, the incident happened at about 1 a.m., after a woman called police and told them a suspicious driver had been following her.
Police told the woman to drive to the police station. When she got there, police say, the driver of the suspicious vehicle parked right behind her.
“Patrol officers attempted to conduct a high-risk traffic stop on the suspect vehicle, which was confirmed to be a stolen 2014 blue Dodge Ram,” police said in a release. “The driver refused to comply with police commands and fled the scene at a high rate of speed.”
A spike belt was used to stop the truck at Simonds Avenue and Cassino Avenue in the city’s southwest. Police conducted another high-risk traffic stop and took the man into custody.
He’s charged with dangerous driving, evading police, possession of stolen property over $5,000, and breach of conditions.
