A 71-year-old woman was hurt Sunday in an attempted carjacking in Saskatoon.
According to Saskatoon police, the incident happened just after 6 p.m., in a parking lot in the 1600 block of 20th Street West.
The woman told police she was in her vehicle when an unknown man approached and asked for a ride. When she said no, the man reportedly tried to force his way into her vehicle.
During the ensuing struggle, the woman was assaulted and threatened with a gun. The man eventually ran off.
Police said the woman was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.
A police media release described the suspect as being of Indigenous descent, 20 to 25 years old, with short hair and a red jacket.
