One of the people charged in connection with the Megan Gallagher investigation pleaded guilty in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Monday.
According to a court spokesperson, Ernest Whitehead pleaded guilty to one count of offering an indignity to human remains. He’s to return to court May 17 for sentencing.
Two other people charged with the same offence in the Gallagher case — Jessica Badger and John Wayne Sanderson — are to be in court Wednesday for their next appearances.
Four people are charged with first-degree murder in relation to Gallagher’s death, while two others are facing charges of unlawful confinement.
Gallagher, 30, was last seen on video surveillance footage at a store on Diefenbaker Drive in Saskatoon in September of 2020. In January of 2021, police announced they were treating the investigation of her disappearance as a murder.
On Sept. 29 of last year, police and other agencies launched a four-day search of an area of the South Saskatchewan River near the village of St. Louis. Gallagher’s remains were found on the first day of that search.
