Police officers in Saskatoon turned to their air support unit to help track down a dangerous driver.
According to police, officers tried to pull over a vehicle after spotting the driver committing a traffic violation on Avenue E North and 29th Street West at around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. Instead of pulling over, the driver took off, accelerating away at a high rate of speed.
The officers called off the chase from the ground, police said, while the air support unit continued to follow the vehicle from the sky.
“Members of the Air Support Unit tracked the vehicle to the 1800 block of Second Avenue North where the driver was attempting to hide from police; he was taken into custody without further incident,” police said in a statement.
The alleged driver, a 35-year-old Saskatoon man, was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle while being pursued by police.
