A woman was rescued by the Saskatoon Fire Department from the Sutherland Dog Park on Sunday morning.
The Fire department was called to the dog park by paramedics off Beef Research Road to help access a patient.
The crew used bolt cutters to access a fenced area to locate the woman who was on a lower trail along the river. She had been out for a walk on the trails and severely injured her ankle.
A rescue unit was needed and responded to help extricate the woman. Using a haul system, the woman was towed up the icy embankment with crew members from the fire engine and fire rescue units.
The removal was difficult due to icy conditions on the embankment, but the woman and crews reached the top safely. The woman was then transferred to the care of the ambulance service.
