Don’t fall asleep at the wheel; it might cost you.
This is what Mathew Kostiuk is saying after being taken into custody by the Moose Jaw Police Service.
At around 3:15 a.m., on Thursday, the MJPS located Kostiuk in a stolen vehicle on Diefenbaker Drive in which he appeared to be asleep.
Police created a plan to prevent the vehicle from fleeing the scene. Upon further investigation, the police located a shotgun, replica handguns, and a machete inside the vehicle along with methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl.
Kostiuk initially provided a false name to officers but was later identified with the help of tattoos and photos on social media.
It was also discovered that he was wanted for several crimes in Regina from the previous few days and was in violation of a probation order.
He has been remanded to appear in court at a later date.
