The Saskatoon Blades’ winning streak came to an end Friday, when the Kamloops Blazers’ winning streak continued.
The Blazers overcame a 2-1 deficit with four straight goals en route to a 5-2 WHL victory over the visiting Blades. It was Kamloops’ fifth straight win; Saskatoon’s winning streak ended at three games.
After Owen Zellweger opened the scoring for the Blazers at 5:39 of the first period, Trevor Wong (8:35) and Aidan De La Gorgendiere (18:06) scored to give the Blades a one-goal lead at the first intermission.
Logan Bairos scored in the second period to tie the game, and Daylan Kuefler, Fraser Minten and Matthew Seminoff (into an empty net) sniped in the third to propel the Blazers to the victory.
Ethan Chadwick stopped 32 shots in the Blades’ goal. The Blazers’ Dylan Ernst made 25 saves.
Kamloops improved to 32-10-4-2 and sits in second place in the Western Conference. Saskatoon (33-13-3-1) remained in third place in the Eastern Conference, one point ahead of the idle Moose Jaw Warriors (33-16-0-3).
