Police say a 44-year-old North Battleford man has been charged after he allegedly tried to meet a 12-year-old girl for what police called “a sexual purpose.”
The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit said in a media release Monday the offences occurred between Jan. 11 and Jan. 15. Last Thursday, members of the ICE Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in North Battleford, where they examined and seized electronic devices.
Joseph Farnell was arrested and charged with luring a child, invitation to sexual touching, and obtaining sexual services for consideration. He was released on numerous conditions and has a court appearance scheduled for March 13.
The ICE Unit includes investigators from the Saskatchewan RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the internet.
