One of the stars of the hit Canadian sitcom Shoresy is looking forward to filming the second season in the coming months.
Jon Mirasty, a former professional hockey player from Flying Dust First Nation, plays Jim #1 on the popular Letterkenny spinoff. It was Jared Keeso, who plays the main character Shoresy, who approached him for the role over a year ago.
While he was apprehensive to try out his acting skills, Mirasty is now hooked – at least to this show.
“As something that’s been as successful as Shoresy’s first season was, I think it’s only going to get better with season two.”
Mirasty’s character is focused on two other characters: Jim #2 and Jim #3. They’re played by former hockey players and brothers Brandon and Jordan Nolan.
“The three Jim’s…we didn’t have a lot to say but I know it’s going to grow more and more,” he added.
The three “Jims” quickly formed a strong bond. Mirasty also noted he has a great relationship with Keeso. While some may expect him to be starstruck by the famous actor when they first met it may have actually been the other way around.
“Jared is an avid hockey fan, especially a hockey fight fan, so having a guy like me come in who had a pretty big name in the hockey world for fighting. It was neat to build that relationship.”
He also joked that Keeso has made this job a lot harder than some would expect.
“When you’re on scene with guys as funny as Jared, you’ll laugh when you’re not supposed to laugh.”
Mirasty was unable to share any details about the show’s second season.
He is planning to travel to Sudbury in early April to start filming.
