A woman who allegedly rammed a Saskatoon police car while trying to get away from officers Thursday night is in custody.
According to police, officers patrolling in the area of 22nd Street West and Avenue H North at about 10 p.m. attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was idling in a parking lot.
Police allege that when officers turned on their emergency equipment, the suspect rammed the police car before speeding away. With public safety front of mind, the officers broke off the pursuit because the suspect vehicle was being driven dangerously.
Not long afterwards, officers found the suspect vehicle in the ditch near Highway 11 and Wanuskewin Road. By following a set of fresh footprints in the snow, police found the suspect hiding nearby.
A 39-year-old woman from La Ronge was arrested and charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer, and one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, and operating a vehicle being pursued by police. She also was wanted on outstanding warrants from the Prince Albert Police Service.
