A 28-year-old woman accused of hitting and killing a nine-year-old Saskatoon girl in a crosswalk 15 months ago now has a date set for her trial.
According to Saskatoon Provincial Court documents, Taylor Ashley Kennedy has pleaded not guilty to the charge of driving while high on THC.
The judge-alone trial has been set for three days starting Oct. 10.
Kennedy is accused of killing nine-year-old Bayleigh Maurice on Sept. 9, 2021 as the girl rode her scooter to school in the 600 block of 33rd Street West.
The girl was in a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a pickup truck.
Kennedy is the first person in Saskatchewan to face a THC-related impaired driving causing death charge.
During a court date in early October, Maurice’s mother Rochelle Dubois said the last year has been difficult, and she asked all Saskatoon drivers to be more aware of their surroundings.
