A 51-year-old Swift Current man has been charged after he allegedly assaulted police officers early Tuesday.
According to police, officers responded at about 7 a.m., to a call of a man pounding on windows and acting in an erratic manner at a motel in the 1800 block of Idylwyld Drive North.
When officers arrived, they were told the man was in the restaurant next door, and that he had assaulted someone.
As police entered the restaurant, the man tried to barricade himself in a bathroom. When officers tried to arrest him, he began throwing items and kicking the officers.
“It is believed the man was under the influence of an intoxicant,” police said in a media release, which noted no one was hurt during the incident.
The man is now facing four charges of assaulting a peace officer and one count each of assault, resisting arrest, mischief and breach of conditions.
