Connor Bedard is heading to Canada’s world junior selection camp.
The 17-year-old Regina Pats forward was one of 13 WHL players selected to take part in Canada’s national junior team selection camp ahead of the 2023 IIHF world junior championship in Moncton and Halifax.
The North Vancouver product has 64 points (27 goals, 37 assists) in 28 games this season and has a point in 27 straight games.
Bedard was on the 2022 world junior team that won gold at the Edmonton edition of the tournament in August. He had eight points (four goals, four assists) in seven tournament games.
Also invited to camp were a pair of Saskatchewan products in Seattle Thunderbirds defencemen Nolan Allan (Davidson) and Kevin Korchinski (Saskatoon).
Allan has 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 22 games this season. He played 16 games with the Prince Albert Raiders before being traded to Seattle.
Korchinski has 28 points in 20 games for the Thunderbirds in the 2022-23 regular season.
Camp begins Friday in Moncton.
The tournament gets underway on Dec. 26 and will run until Jan. 5.
